Year 11 Barclays Career Day 2017
On Wednesday 27th September we welcomed 45 guests from Barclays Capital. They spent the day working with all of our Y11 students; providing workshops in self-confidence, CV writing and interview skills. We were delighted that every student in Y11 received a 20 minute mock interview with feedback.
“I find this one of the most rewarding things I do, to see the passion and enthusiasm of the children here really makes it a worthwhile use of our time. The fact that the students take on board what we say and really engage means that they get a great learning experience from the day. And for us seeing them develop in this way is hugely rewarding.”
Peter Raker, Director of Barclays
“This is the second year that Barclays have visited Isaac Newton Academy to hold our Career’s Day for Year 11 students. We are really happy to be back and have used our experiences from last year to help us plan for this year’s event. Every student gets a one-to-one interview with a member of the Barclays team. We have made the interview process longer this year, so rather than having a 10 minute interview, students are receiving a 20 minute interview with 5 minutes of feedback. It is very rewarding for us because as working professionals, we can give advice to the students and share our knowledge and expertise. We have 45 members of our Barclay’s team here today. It is a very popular event for our staff and they have really been looking forward to it.“
Sohini Dhutia, Manager at Barclays
The students also really enjoyed the day and found the sessions constructive and valuable.
“I found today really useful. People do not get opportunities like this very often and it has been really useful to have a mock interview and go through our CV with Barclays. We had 3 hours of workshops in the morning which included topics such as CV writing and building our self-confidence. It was great to speak to industry professionals and get advice and feedback from them. “
Taner, Year 11 student
“I think this experience has been very useful because I can apply it to my future. I am in Year 11 and going into Sixth Form soon so the interview skills I learnt will be really useful in future interviews and applications. I learnt a lot about self-confidence as well and how to portray myself towards other people.”
Denada, Year 11 student
The Barclays team were really impressed by INA and commented on our organisation, fantastic facilities, enrichment opportunities and the focus of our Y11 students.
We would like to thank the Barclays team for giving their time to support our students and look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
