Victory for INA Students at the 2015 TeenTech Awards!

Monday 29 Jun 2015

Just seven weeks after learning they had made it through to the final of this year's Teen Tech Awards, Daanyaal Ali, Muaz Nawaz, and Chirag Shah did more than make the school proud on Monday 22nd June, when their product was announced as the winner of the Health Category.

Their product - a revolutionary STIdetecting condom, with an inbuilt indicator that would change colour in the presence of any infection - beat four others to the top spot on the day, which was held at the Royal Society in London, the national Academy of science in the UK.

The students were judged by specialists in their sector, including Dr Christian Jessen from Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies, but were also visited by a number of VIP guests, not least TeenTech's Patron, HRH The Duke of York, who has invited the winners of each category to Buckingham Palace in October to take a closer look at their projects and to award them special certificates.

Students did receive certificates and a trophy on the day, however, and were more than pleased to pose for photos holding these with another VIP guest: Top Gear's James May.

Since winning, news of their success has already spread far and wide: being picked up by Indian news websites; international social media sites; and national newspaper websites, including The Mirror, The Mail and The Independent; with still more requests pouring in.

Not only did the boys win £250 worth of goodies for themselves (each!), they also won £1000 for the school, so we say not only 'well done' to them, but thank you! Enjoy your new-found fame!
