James Dawson Visit
Friday 26 Jun 2015
Our year 9s had a very special treat this week as they were visited by Young Adult author James Dawson. This was particularly special for 9I student Rutina Caldeira, who loved James’ horror novel Hollow Pike so much that she nominated the author for the INA DISCOVERY Award.
James delivered an inspiring talk to the whole of year 9 and hosted two workshops in which students were given the opportunity to explore themes of identity and representation in books for young people. Mr Dawson topped the day off by signing autographs in the library to an excited queue of students, who whipped up his books like hotcakes!
9E’s Imtiaz Ahmed summed the day up nicely, concluding that James Dawson was officially “awesome”!
