In Art last term, KS3 students created final pieces for their Spring Term project.
The Art department then selected stand-out pieces currently on display around the school.
Year 7 students worked on their ‘Artist Alphabet’ project. Students learnt about typography, fonts and studied graphic artist Karina Ebatova. They then had to design a calligram letter that visually represented its meaning, e.g., P for Paint, A for Artist etc. As you can see below, selected final pieces are now on display around the school, either outside SLT’s offices or near corresponding spaces, e.g. M for Music outside the Music room and W for Weather by the terrace.
Year 8 students worked on their ‘Edible Portrait’ project. Students learnt about portraiture, watercolour painting and studied artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and make-up artist Kimberly Margarita. They then had to create a watercolour portrait around the theme of ‘Food’. The selected final pieces are displayed in the school’s dining hall.
Year 9 students worked on their ‘Contrasting Cities’ project. Students learnt the techniques of Mono printing, Sgraffito and studied artists Eric Drooker and Hilly Van Eerten. They then had to create a final piece around the theme of ‘Contrasting Cities’ using the skills learned.
