Behaviour and anti-bullying

We strive to create an environment in which children feel safe, secure and respected.

Behaviour

We are passionate about maintaining high standards of professionalism in the academy.  When children’s behaviour is of a high standard, it tells us that they feel happy, safe, and that it is likely that their needs are being met.  For us, achieving this begins with relationships: ensuring that we take time to get to know our children and develop a positive climate in which they can thrive.

As part of this process, we consciously and regularly recognise positive behaviours in our students. We also employ a caring approach and use restorative conversations to develop children’s ability to empathise, reflect and learn from each experience.

Our code of conduct outlines appropriate behaviours that will allow each student to be successful each day. We believe that good and positive behaviour is achieved through relationships and an understanding of the impact that this has on individuals. At Ark Isaac Newton Academy we expect all students to behave well, all the time. There are no excuses for poor behaviour. Behaviour rules will be applied consistently and professionally by staff who expect no learning time to be lost through having to deal with poor behaviour.

Anti-bullying

Everyone connected with Ark Isaac Newton has a responsibility to create a secure, safe environment for students in our care, so that parents may send their children to school in the confident knowledge that they will be protected from bullies. Bullying has absolutely no place in Ark Isaac Newton Academy. As an academy we will always support the victim to feel safe and secure. We will do what it takes to ensure all our members feel safe and will work with all students to build their confidence as we believe this is the essential element in reducing the occurrences of bullying.
